Terms of service.

Effective May 14, 2026

These terms govern your use of YourTeam, the volunteer placement tool at yourteam.church, operated by Build the Church (“we,” “us,” or “YourTeam”). By using YourTeam, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.

Who can use YourTeam

You must be at least 13 years old to take an assessment. If you’re signing up on behalf of a church or ministry, you confirm that you have authority to bind that church to these terms.

Your account

You’re responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for any activity that happens under your account. Use a real email and keep your password to yourself. If you suspect your account has been accessed by someone else, email us right away at info@yourteam.church.

The free DISC test

The free DISC + Spiritual Gifts test at yourteam.church/disc is free for personal use. Take it, share it, send the link to friends. We don’t store the results unless you choose to email them to yourself.

Church accounts and volunteer data

If you sign up as a church, you’ll have access to a dashboard showing your volunteers’ assessment results — but only the volunteers who explicitly consented to share their results with you. You agree to:

  • Use volunteer data only for the purpose they shared it — placing them on a team in your ministry
  • Not export, sell, or share volunteer data outside your church staff
  • Honor any volunteer’s request to delete their data, and forward that request to us if you can’t fulfill it yourself
  • Keep your church-specific URL and branding accurate and not misleading

Acceptable use

You won’t:

  • Use YourTeam to harass, deceive, or coerce anyone
  • Submit fraudulent assessments or fake volunteer entries
  • Attempt to access another church’s data or break our security measures
  • Resell, sublicense, or scrape the service
  • Use the service for anything illegal under US law or the laws of where you operate

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section.

Subscriptions, trials, and billing

Free trial:Connect and Pro tiers come with a 30-day free trial. No credit card required to start. We’ll remind you before the trial ends.

Billing:when you choose to subscribe, you’ll be billed at the rate listed on /pricing at the time of purchase. Annual plans are billed once per year; monthly plans are billed every 30 days. Subscriptions auto-renew unless you cancel.

Cancellation:you can cancel anytime. Monthly plans end at the close of the current billing cycle. Annual plans end at the close of the prepaid year — you keep access through that period. We don’t offer prorated refunds on annual plans, but we won’t play games either: if there’s a legitimate hardship, email us and we’ll work something out.

Price changes:if we raise prices, we’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice by email. Your current rate stays in effect through your current billing cycle.

AI-generated content

YourTeam uses AI (specifically, Anthropic’s Claude) to generate personalized summaries, team-match explanations, and tools that help pastors set up their team profiles. AI output is generated based on the data the volunteer provided in their assessment. While we’ve designed the system to produce thoughtful, accurate, and pastoral results, AI-generated text is not a substitute for prayer, pastoral counsel, or your own discernment. Use it as a starting point.

Intellectual property

Your data: you own the data you put into YourTeam. By using the service, you grant us a non-exclusive license to use that data solely to provide the service to you.

Our platform:we own the YourTeam application, interfaces, code, brand, and documentation. You’re welcome to use the service as designed; you’re not granted any other rights to our intellectual property.

Your assessment results:a volunteer’s assessment results belong to that volunteer. The church they consented to share with has a license to use those results to place them on a team. We don’t use any individual’s results to train AI models or for any purpose outside what’s described in our privacy policy.

Third-party services

YourTeam is built on top of services from Supabase, Vercel, Resend, and Anthropic. Each has its own terms and privacy practices. We’ve chosen these vendors deliberately and trust them with your data, but we’re not responsible for their separate terms.

Disclaimers

YourTeam is provided “as is” and “as available.” We work hard to make it reliable, but we don’t guarantee that it’ll be uninterrupted, error-free, or perfectly accurate. The personality and spiritual gift assessments are tools for self-discovery and ministry placement — they’re not psychological diagnoses or substitutes for pastoral care.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of your use of YourTeam is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. We’re not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

Termination

You can stop using YourTeam and delete your account at any time. We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms — we’ll give you notice and a chance to fix the issue except in cases of serious abuse or security risk.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms occasionally. If we make material changes, we’ll update the effective date at the top of this page and notify church admins by email. Continued use of the service after changes means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Alabama and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Alabama.
