YourTeam is a volunteer placement tool for churches built by Build the Church. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and what we do (and don’t do) with it. It’s written in plain English on purpose. If anything here isn’t clear, email us at info@yourteam.church.

What we collect

When you use YourTeam, we collect different information depending on how you’re using it:

If you take the free DISC test or any assessment as a volunteer: we collect your name, email address, the answers you give to the assessment questions, and the resulting profile (your DISC blend, top spiritual gifts, APEST primary, Enneagram type, and any AI-generated summary).

If you sign up as a church admin (pastor or staff):we collect your name, email address, password (hashed — we never see it in plain text), your church’s name and URL slug, your logo image (if uploaded), and your chosen brand colors and welcome message.

From every visit: standard server logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp). We use these for security, abuse prevention, and debugging — not for advertising.

How we use it

We use the data we collect to operate the service: scoring your assessment, matching you to a church’s ministry teams, generating personalized summaries, sending result emails, displaying volunteers to the church admins they consented to share with, and supporting our paying churches. We don’t use volunteer profiles for advertising, lead generation, or any purpose outside the church relationship you opted into.

Volunteer consent

When you take an assessment via a church’s branded URL (something like yourteam.church/c/yourchurch), you’ll see a clearly-labeled consent checkbox before you begin: “Share my results with [Church Name].” That checkbox is on by default but you can uncheck it anytime before clicking “Email My Results.” If you uncheck it, your assessment runs the same way, you see your full results on screen, but no data is sent to the church and no row is saved in their dashboard. The choice is yours.

Who we share data with

The church you consented to:if you took an assessment through a church’s URL and left the consent box checked, that church’s admins can see your name, email, assessment results, and team matches in their dashboard.

Service providers we use to run YourTeam:

  • Supabase— our database and authentication provider. Your data is stored in their US-based infrastructure with row-level security so no church sees another church’s data.
  • Vercel — hosts the application and serves traffic.
  • Resend — sends result emails and notifications.
  • Anthropic (Claude) — generates the personalized written summaries and team-match explanations. Each request includes the data needed to write the explanation (your DISC blend, top gifts, etc.) and the relevant team profiles. Anthropic does not use this data to train their models on our API tier.

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not share it with other churches.

Where your data lives

Your data is stored in the United States via Supabase’s infrastructure. If you’re outside the US, by using YourTeam you consent to your data being processed in the United States.

How long we keep it

We keep volunteer assessment data as long as the associated church account is active. If a church closes their account, we delete their volunteers’ assessment data within 30 days unless retention is required by law. If you’re a volunteer and you’d like your data deleted before then, email us at info@yourteam.church and we’ll do it within 30 days.

Your rights

You can ask us, at any time, to:

  • Tell you what data we have about you
  • Delete the data we have about you
  • Correct anything inaccurate
  • Stop sharing your data with a church you previously consented to

Email info@yourteam.church with your request. We’ll respond within 30 days.

Cookies

We use a single session cookie to keep you signed in. We don’t use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics that follow you around the web.

Children

YourTeam is not designed for or directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted information to us, please email us and we’ll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that affects how we handle your data, we’ll update the effective date at the top of this page and, when the change is significant, notify church admins by email. The current version is always at yourteam.church/privacy.
